RHA warns Leeds Clean Air Zone will drive hauliers out of business

Suggestions by Leeds City Council are that Non Euro trucks will have to pay a charge of £50 per day to enter these Clean Air Zones, however it’s already been said that these extra charges won’t have the effect on air pollution as much as it would want.

However these charges will put a big financial strain on these haulier firms.

There has already been other ways proven that lower emissions without imposing these heavy charges, also they could give these companies time to upgrade their trucks to newer models (lowering emissions)

Check out the RHA website for further details and don’t forget to have your say on our website comment blog/facebook.

FRANCE – GENERAL AND NATIONAL STRIKE 09 OCTOBER 2018

The CGT & FO unions, UNEF & UNL organisations are asking for workers, secondary school children to attend a day of inter professional national strike today!
The strike should only affect the rail and school services, possibly some road and port disruption.
we have also contacted Euro tunnel who have advised us that they typically don’t get affected by the strike action. However they cannot be certain whether port workers will join in with strike action.

If there are any changes to this we will update you.

10,000 Deliveries!

INT celebrated 10,000 deliveries yesterday afternoon!

On 1st August 2015, INT did their first ever job for their first ever customer. Precisely three years later, at 15:26pm we sent off the confirmation for our 10,000th delivery – and trust us, we had the champagne at the ready!

We are overjoyed to say the least, and want to thank all our staff, hauliers and customers who make our incredible ongoing journey possible. We’re proud to say that many of the first customers we served three years ago are still with us today, working in regular collaboration with INT.

At INT, our ever-expanding team, client base and fleet will be the drive behind reaching double the amount of deliveries by this time next year. It won’t be easy, but our belief is that the only way is up!

Keep updated with our journey via social media:

Top Three Most Valuable Skills For A Career In Logistics

A career in logistics can be a challenging, fast-paced and rewarding one. We’ve summed up our top three skills required to succeed in this ever-changing industry.

1. Communication

No matter which position you work in, whether it be out on the roads or in the office, communication is key within logistics.

“Communicating with international clients and hauliers has been the most challenging yet exciting aspect of working in logistics. It definitely helps to speak more than one language, but you also have to be brilliant at explaining things in a coherent and friendly manner, to avoid any confusion or conflict,” explains Accounts Manager, Christine.

Communication is also vital within your team – there are many tight deadlines and targets within transport: meeting them requires a group effort.

2. Problem Solving Skills

In logistics, you always need a back-up plan. As a very changeable industry, even the most expert of Transport Planners cannot foresee traffic accidents, weather conditions or other delays in transit. Therefore, you must be someone who can think on their feet and come up with a solution to every problem.

“Planning for the unpredictable is about knowing all your options when something goes wrong. It’s a skill that comes with experience and knowledge, but a calm, confident and inquisitive approach is helpful to have, if you’re new to the industry,” advises Transport Co-Ordinator, Wayne.

3. Accuracy

Every career within logistics requires impeccable attention to detail. Even the slightest mistake can cause a ‘domino effect’ of problems which may result in a few (or many) phone calls waking someone up at 3am!

“The very nature of the supply chain means that if an error is made, it will not only affect your company but everyone else who is involved in the delivery – that may include the customer, the customer’s customer, the retailer… the list could go on. Consequently, our team ensures accuracy by always double checking each other’s work – because you can never be too careful,’ tells Norman, our Managing Director.

So why work in logistics?

A career in logistics may involve long and varied shifts, some stressful moments, but ultimately it is a worthwhile sector to be in – with the knowledge that you’re a vital part of one of the most valuable industries around. Without logistics, you wouldn’t be sitting on the chair you’re on right now, reading from the phone screen in front of you and wearing the clothes you’ve got on – they’ve all travelled by some means of transport to reach you!

World Chocolate Day 2018

Today at INT Logistics UK we’re celebrating chocolate in all its glory, a sweet indulgence that we never take for granted!

The numbers

Daily we ship around 250 tonnes of chocolate. That makes a whopping average of 91,250 per year! The shipping of chocolate is no easy business – something as precious as silky-smooth chocolate requires specifically controlled temperatures (and a great deal of restraint on our part!)

Luckily for our chocolate lovers out there, we know the perfect temperature for transporting chocolate is +15 degrees – no less, no more! Our single and dual temperature-controlled trailers have the ability to range from plus and minus thirty degrees centigrade, so we can ensure your favourite bar of choc remains in perfect condition throughout transit.

We are trusted to deliver chocolate by a number of international companies including Mondelez and Ferrero.

The history of chocolate

Chocolate has a history of an estimated 4,000 years – and it hasn’t always been just a naughty-but-so-nice treat. In the past, it’s been used for the likes of rituals, currency and even medicine! In fact, modern research has proven chocolate to have several health benefits, so no need to feel guilty next time you give in to those sweet cravings.

Chocolate is good for you!

Ever wondered why eating chocolate makes you feel so good? That’s because it causes the brain to release phenylethylamine, the same chemical that makes you feel romantic love!

Chocolate is also thought to be good for the memory, the heart and circulation. It can even help you to lose weight – eating a square of dark chocolate is great for satisfying hunger.

We can’t see a reason why not to eat chocolate

If we go to such lengths to transport chocolate all around Europe, then we really hope you enjoy it!

So that leaves our final question for you: which chocolate will you choose to celebrate today with?
